I also have this DVD set and think that too much time was spent on the interface. I was very dissapointed that there really wasn’t any practical guidance offered in regard to creating titles with Graffiti.

His vast bulk shields him from many forms of injury, either providing padding or causing penetration wounds to only strike him relatively superficially. He has extraordinary skill in hand-to-hand combat, specializing in a number of martial arts, including sumo wrestling. His fighting skills and unusual agility for a man of his size compensate for a great difference between his human level of strength and that of Spider-man when the two engage in unarmed combat (Spider-man also has severe inhibitions about using his strength against an opponent without superhuman powers for fear of killing him or her.) The Kingpin is a criminal genius and a highly skilled planner and organizer. He employs numerous henchmen, scientists, and even superhumans, almost all of whom are fiercely loyal to him due to dedication, fear, or both. The Kingpin possesses the normal human strength of a man of his age, height, and build who engages in intensive regular exercise. The Kingpin is virtually as strong as it is possible for a man of his age, height, and weight to be without having superhuman strength. His great bulk does not consist of fat but of muscles that have been developed to enormous size, as in a sumo wrestler. The Kingpin can lift (press) approximately 650 pounds.WeaponsThe Kingpin sometimes carries a walking stick which contains a concealed laser beam weapon that fires a short pulse of 300 watts, enough energy to vaporize a handgun. The walking stick can also be used to fire a concentrated spray of sleeping gas. The Kingpin’s diamond stickpin also contains a small, highly compressed container of sleeping gas which is effective when fired directly into an opponent’s face at close range. The Kingpin uses the stickpin gas as a last resort. The RussianHeight: 7′2″Weight: 573 lbsFollowing his resurrection and subsequent reconstruction at the hands of General Kreigkopf’s paramilitary organization, The Russian possessed a various superhuman abilities.Bodily Reconstruction: Following his ressurection, the Russian’s natural physiology was rebuilt using a combination of extremely durable metal alloys and plastics.* Superhuman Strength: Much of the Russian’s musculature and ligaments were replaced with extremely durable, but lightweight plastics, increasing his already prodigious strength to higher levels. While the exact limit of his superhuman strength wasn’t known, it is known that it didn’t exceed 10 tons.* Superhuman Stamina: The Russian’s dramatically altered and enhanced artificial musculature produced less fatigue toxins during physical activity than a normal human, granting him an unknown degree of superhuman stamina. He could, however, exert himself at peak capacit

I purchased Graffiti about 6 months ago, FX about 2 months ago. After spot reading the manual, trying the tutorials, and experimenting a bit, I still did not get it and was forced to use the library effects in my projects.

This tutorial unraveled the mysteries and I now get it. The set-up guidance taught me more in 5 minutes that reading the first chapter of the 800 page manual provided with the software. Being able to see construction of an effect, follow along with the provided materials, and view the final effect is the only way to learn.

Finally, I am a Vegas user and the author provides an insight to using the program with Vegas and a workaround of the limitations between these programs.

Thank you for the tutorial and I look forward to the advanced series!

There are currently two sets of DVDs available for Boris training, this one and the one made by Intelligent Assistance. I bought them both. I should have only bought this one.

This Class on Demand set is at least 100 times better than the IA DVD. It comes with a CD Rom containing media to work along with and you can play the DVD discs in either your TV or your computer (IA suggests that their DVD offers “more raster area to work with” like it’s a benefit that you can’t watch their DVD on your TV set if you want to). The Amazon description says this disc set is only viewable in region one, but that’s not true. I have a region 2 player (PAL) and it works fine on that player as well as my region one and my computer’s DVD Rom.

The program is amazingly thorough and helpful. The host is comfortable and relaxed and he makes following along fun and easy. It starts a bit dry, but I think the ad nauseum descriptions of the program nake a good reference to rely on if you need to know what a certain button or series of buttons is used for. It’s the perfect introduction for beginners.

For more experienced users, the DVD breaks the code on how to do many more complex things like text animation, rotoscoping, and chroma keying.

This DVD (2 DVDs and a CD-Rom, actually) is spot-on: well produced, well thought out, and well worth the price. Buy it TODAY and start understanding how to use your software.

The space on disc 1 of this set should have been used teaching the basics of compositing video in Red and FX. Instead, it is wasted on the Boris Interface. Another disappointment is no mention of Final Cut Pro. Good tutorials in video compositing have universal appeal for ALL platform users. The audience for this product is very narrow (Vegas), and I’m left without knowing what purpose it serves. The Boris web site has a wider range of excellent tutorials on compositing, blending textures, keying, text effects, and much more. There’s no need for this program.
If anything, this wasted effort should inspire someone else to produce a real tutorial.
