At the beginning of every Wiley’s book you can see in fine print: “Limit of liability/ Disclaimer of warranty” and then a specific phrase: “The advice and strategies contained herein may not be suitable for your situation”. In a nutshell, this limit applied to me with the contents of this book: No solid strategies, online issue just taken by the side, and meager approaches to instruction. Final message feels like: HIVEs are an emerging issue in education, in most cases expensive, or, at least, you are strongly adviced to pay money to get something decent. HIVEs are complicated to manage, so it is better to pay for someone to coach you. The preface reads: “My goal in writing this book is to be more practical than theoretical [...]“; “I want to be as specific as possible [...]“;”[...]this text is also aimed at helping instructors meet specific challenges[...]“.Author fails to structure ideas and contents clear enough to follow them (at least in what I consider “accessible” should be).

What is a free online virtual world?
I am looking for a free online virtual world kind of Online Virtual Graffiti Games game.I don’t want something where you have to pay to become premium and the free account is terrible i want something free.Anyone have any ideas???All help appreciated Thanks

Many educators from K -16 believe that computer based simulations/games are the future. Many of us endorse moving away from the “learning to know” and promoting a “learning to be” and “learning to do” goal of education. The Internet has enabled this potential exponentially. Now the question teachers ask is: How do I incorporate meaningful simulations/games into my syllabus? Clark’s book provides the answer with “a one night read” that will inspire. Here is what I appreciate about this book:
*Includes definitions and justification for the game-based learning phenomena
*Explains the various degrees of interactivity and what that means for learner engagement
*Includes explanation of the important role of the instructor/coach
*Provides ideas of how to use simulations in the classroom
*How to sell the importance of “learning to do and be”
Professors,Teachers,Educators! This book is worth purchasing! What more of my thoughts about Clark Aldrich and his work see my blog: [...]

As a new entrant to Technology Enhanced Learning, I found this an excellent introduction to using simulations, games and virtual worlds for learning. The book overall was very easy to read with inciteful common sense descriptions of the different types of games and sims as well as design strategies. Strategies for getting support from management before implementing simulations and games for learning is also discussed as well as effective strategies for using these technologies.

This is my first review (of many books bought from Amazon) I would recommend this book to anyone interested in simulations and serious games.

I have two copies of Clark’s book, one a dead-tree version and the other a Kindle version. This is because Clark’s books keep disappearing from my bookshelves. I cannot find one of his previous books, “Learning by Doing”.

Clark’s book is the best introduction to learning from highly interactive virtual environonments. I strongly recommend it to beginners — and to experienced practitioners. Clark blends practice with the right amount of theory. His conceptualization is sound. His levels and his concept of sims as a new model of content are pragmatic and provocative. Clark’s style is highly readable. He is a storyteller and a journalist. But he does not compromise the accuracy of the information and clearly separates fantasy from reality.

Many of Clark’s ideas are applicable to teaching and learning in general. They are not limited to geeks.

Buy this book — and Clark’s previous books. No, you may not borrow them from me.

This little stuffed animal is cheaply made and the website doesn’t work. We have tried repeatedly to log on and we keep getting errors. It says to try again later. I’ll try buying something made by another company before I try this anymore. What a WASTE of money. If your kid wants a cheap stuffed animal, find one somewhere else. If your kid wants to go virtual, forget it with this product. Their website is a total FAIL!!!!!

  5. Mohamed Says:

The stuffed animal is cute but as others have said, the website is crazy unfriendly. I finally (after taking a break from it for two months, lol) got my daughter into a game. After it’s all said and done it’s just a stuffed animal and the online aspect of it a throw away.

  6. Abercrombie Says:

I had the same issues that others have — inability to log on to the website, after numerous times trying. My six year-old got this as a gift, and the timing seemed fortuitous, since her year-long Webkinz membership had expired. Wrong! I’m just glad that I didn’t try as long as some other people — instead I ran out and spent ten bucks on a Lil’ Kinz, so she’s back on Webkinz World. Best ten bucks I ever spent.

  7. Mumford Says:

Soft cute toy with NO online capability and they want you to pay to play online after 1 month. It took 2 days to get registered due to error messages and frozen screens. Finally we “created” a pet but the map would not let you go anywhere! Sitting stationary on a map is no fun for a 6 yr old who lost interest after about 5 min. Determined to not let it beat me I worked for over an hour to figure it out. After multiple logins and switching computers thinking maybe it was me, no luck! If you want a virtual world and a stuffed toy buy WEBKINZ. We have many webkinz online, it is free if you buy the pet and you can play many games to earn virtual “kidz cash” money to buy clothes food and furniture for your pet. We got the LPS pet as a gift, glad I did not spend my money on it and suggest you do not either.

I work in front of a computer all day and exercise week nights and weekends.
I love my new shoes. I’ve had them for several months and will purchase more in the future.
Note: Start off slow. I watched the video and I still over did the first few weeks.
My back hurt and I was worried about the new shoes. I slowed down and alternated
wearing the shoes with other sneakers. My back is fine and I love the skechers shape ups now (I no longer alternate wearing).

  9. Nielsen Says:

I was not able to wear these shoes due to both right and left hip pain that developed. It got so painful that I would not tolerate even an hour wear time after 4 days. Emailed the company and they told me to stop wearing the shoe if I had extreme pain. Excellent contruction and helped decrease my heel pain. It was unfortunate that I was not able to wear this product. I did notice my thighs really getting a work out.

  10. DeAngelis Says:

These shoes are very comfortable and seem to absorb the impact of walking. My knees don’t hurt after I wear these even after a lot of walking. I have told everyone I know to try them and everyone has loved them.

  11. Jorgensen Says:

Quick shipping, fair cost. At least better than I could find anywhere else. Bought these for the wife. She loves them after getting used to the round soles.
