I have recently become impressed with Doug Pray’s documentary work. Infamy is about the graffiti sub-culture. He follows 5 or 6 of the more prolific taggers to see how they work and listen to their thoughts. It really gave me insight into why these guys (and girls) have a passion for their particular brand of art. He also includes one “buffer”, which is a guy who eliminates graffiti in his neighborhood. The buffer was pretty funny because his last scene essentially shows that he is really a form of tagger!

There is some good footage of the artists actually creating their work with markers or spray paint. It really drew a striking parallel with calligraphy. Their motions are often so practiced and smooth that the movements seem to be as much art as the final result. Of course there are also shots of many beautiful works in the film. If you have any interest in the graffiti scene, check out this film.

Ever been in a situation where you thought you were going to die?
This is a little strange but there’s this “abandoned girl scout camp” out in the woods in the Ozark/Branson area, and the only time I ever been there was a couple years ago where we went at night and it was a horrible experience. This place has been abandoned for decades and there’s trees growing out of the in ground cement pool and graffiti in the old showers with more trees growing out of it. And along the path you have to cross jagged rocks with springs running below and fallen trees that make a ‘tree like’ tunnel thing that you must get through and there’s more Graffiti Jagged Alphabet obstacles along the way.Well today my best friend and I were out there exploring and once you get past the pool area there’s several more trails… Well my best friend was going down the wrong trail and we turn around and head back and all of a sudden we here rustling and my friend claims it’s squirrels. Out of the blue from nowhere pops out this creepy guy saying “A cat fight…. nearly cost my life” and mumbling all sorts of crazy things. He goes towards the bottom of the showers which was a dark garage type of thing and he’s gone… keep in mind he was starring us down… so then we run and hop over fallen trees and run through the rocks due to the adrenaline… I thought for sure this guy was going to kill us because no one would have heard our screams and he had an insane look to him. I kept thinking I’m going to become a missing person due to being murdered in the woods in “haunted grounds.”Another weird thing is a few minutes before we encountered him I said, “I should’ve brought my knife.” and we shrugged it off. I really honestly thought I was going to get murdered and I’ve never felt that way before. It’s very intense and makes me feel very grateful that he didn’t harm us.Have you ever thought you were going to die and what were you thinking?
