This is a wonderful book. I would suggest, however, that you should do “cs4 classroom in a book” first, because
some of these techniques are complicated and if you are not familiar with the way photoshop works you might get a bit frustrated. I sat down to do one of the tutorials which was to create a “credit card” (for my 1 year old grandson!). He shows how to create it. I didn’t realize that he supplied the pictures, so I created all of it by myself (till my shoulders ached) It was so much work, and I loved it!!! You need to be patient and do the projects slowly and if you get lost there is a short manual of many of the commands in the back. Good luck and have fun!

what shall i call my clothing business?
Me and some mates are serious about making a business. Me and my friends are excellent graffiti artists, we have all the equipment to get our sketches onto t shirts. The Graffiti Art Equipment concept is simple. Selling high quality graffiti art encorperated sketches onto the shirts.P.S The common conception of graffiti being writing in block letters (piece or throw up) or scribbles (tags) is most definately not going to be part of this company. We will only incorperate high quality “cartoon” like sketches you could call them. What Shall i Call the business. We allready thought G-shirts but its taken.

Great book to just thumb through for old b-Boys and reminisce or for true graff heads that appreciate street art.

What more could an avid graffiti writer look for in a book? This has everything! For a person who is always looking for new techniques, this is the graffiti writers bible. I couldnt ask for anything more, (except Blackbook Sessions #2.)

A thick collage of varied styles. From figures to throw-up sketches this book’s got a lot to look at. Mostly artists from Europe.

This is truly a good black book. There are so many different styles from so many artists. The book has english AND german (they both say the same thing) because StyleLife is Germany based. There’s not too much text only an intro and an interview in the middle. A few of the drawings are a little wack but overall the book is GREAT. I recommend this book for anybody starting out graffiti or exploring new styles of graffiti.

I really enjoyed this book. Logically organized. Quick, 2 page overviews of a lot of interesting techniques. Doesn’t get too bogged down in detailed instructions.

I am a longtime fan of Steve Caplin’s books and this is another top notch book that I am going to be adding to my collection. I did not know this book was even out up until today when I came across it at the bookstore. Before I knew it I was completely engrossed in this book… what had started off as a plan to do a quickie “sneak preview” turned into a looooooong episode as I slowly went from page to page trying to devour as much juicy information as I could before I had to leave (much) later on. I would have bought the book then and there but am going to have to wait just a little bit longer as my budget is on a tight freeze due to my 4 tyres (or “tires” as you say here in the US) having to suddenly be replaced 2 days ago…ugh!!
FANTASTIC book Steve!! Keep them coming! It’s books like yours that inspire the creative juices to keep flowing!!

im reading this book cover to cover and learning alot! I’m a graphic art hobbyist. This book details everything about fonts and appropriate usage and provides many useful weblinks to get some. The book is very well written in plain english, but packs valuable information about common graphic arts styles and even includes tons of tutorials to create popular looks. worth every penny!
