“T-Shirt Makeovers” is just what me and my friends have been waiting for.

Love haute couture fashion but out of a job? Sew it yourself!

Want pretty new things but feel guilty about the environmental impact? Recycle your old clothes!

Have restless hands? Put them to work!

Bored of everything in your closet? Reinvent what you’ve already got!

Seriously, ladies, this is a fantastic book, and it has saved me and my girlfriends so much cash. Thank you Sistahs of Harlem.

This is the best DIY t-shirt book I’ve read. The refashioned clothes are real, wearable clothing. They don’t look like that t-shirt you hacked up in high school, which is cool on a 15-year-old, but not so great if you want something more grownup and/or stylish. It gets you thinking on a track of making tees feminine and sexy!

  3. Crowley Says:

I have several DIY T-shirt re-vamp books and this one is THE BEST one so far! The “Sistahs” write like positive friends who are in the know about fashion, the designs are great fun and easy to follow & the photos are excellent for illustrating the finished product.

Bonuses: great tips on choosing lines, colors and styles for every body type, good range of patterns for the novice to the experienced sewer and the hard-cover is sure to last. BUY IT NOW. REALLY!

This book is great! I attempted a couple of the shirts and they turned out perfect. The projects are short and look great once completed. Perfect for the unskilled seamstress with a few more difficult shirts to make if you are looking for a “challenge”. I haven’t really tried the more difficult projects yet, as I seem to be lacking T-shirts. One of the shirts required interfacing but the rest just use T-shirts.

I am looking forward to trying a few more of the Sistahs Of Harlem’s projects. Overall great purchase.

I think I expected too much. I like that they used ideas from different designers and crafters but not all were practical and some werent worth the time and effort to make. The “button down t-shirt” was great. The “skirt”, was not (it could have benefited from a few more illustrations or clearer instructions and what was with using the leftover sleeve to patch the triangle-gap left in the corner of the skirt? I would prefer a how-to on making a skirt that DOESNT have a gap. That’s just sloppy looking). The “stuffed animals”, rugs, ipod coozies, and chair covers are really just simple project ideas you can find for free by browsing the web. I expected more instruction on wearable clothing.

  6. Everett Says:

Nice idea, but poorly done. Craft is weak, there are threads hanging in the photos, seriously people! There are perhaps 6 projects that are worth doing, 3 of which are pretty spiffy, but for the most part the projects are a mess few people would wear let alone bother making.

While I won’t make everything in this book, I will make several of these refashions. They range from cute to cutting edge, practical to outrageous. These are real big name fashion designers with some great ideas for the at home fashionista. I’ve got great plans to recycle some tshirts and jazz up a few things that I already own. This book is a great read, with lots of good projects to keep me busy all summer long.

Even thought some of the project in this book require a little more knowledge than just your basic cutting and sewing, I have to give credit for coming up with more than just making a t-shirt into another shirt! bath mat, pillows, bags etc. It helps give a little more creative edge and this book has inspired to me to come up with more things such as hats and book covers! Most of the items in here and quick and simple but do keep in mind that some are more difficult than others. I LOVE IT!
