graffiti-drawings Essential tips on Drawings Graffiti

From cover to cover I found Piecebook to be ascetically gorgeous. The attention to detail is superb. You’ll swear you’re holding a real Piecebook that once made it’s rounds amongst NYC’s most legendary graffiti greats. Whether you are in to graffiti or not, this book is sure to impress.

Anyone want to critique my drawings?

I’d love to Drawings Graffiti have other people(who I don’t know…that way, they wont be bias)tell me what they like, and what they don’t like. I’m open to anything you have to say. If you’d be willing to critique my drawings, just respond and leave an email. and i’ll pick you as best answer too =]

this is a ‘must have’ for anyone that respects and appreciates the art of graffiti!

  2. Ingersoll Says:

Got my copy of Piecebook Reloaded. Another banger by Chino and Sacha Jenkins. It goes a step beyond what the first one did, covering 1985-2005. There are more full page drawings and they made the book more authentic than the first by making the pages appear as if the designers bled thru the paper.

  3. Ishikawa Says:

Wow, just got my copy.. a great collection. The bleed through on the pages does give it that authentic feel. So much so that I was looking at it in a restaurant with a friend and a waitress asked if I was the artist and it was my sketchbook. I wish – but it’s amazing to have all those graf greats in one book!

  4. Izell Says:

Just like it’s predecessor, PIECEBOOK RELOADED is beautifully printed, and filled with vibrant original artwork from a who’s who of all-city graffiti kings! I would have expected to pay more, it’s beyond your imagination to get a book of this quality at that price point, so I got a few extra to give as gifts!

  5. Kiplinger Says:

Authentic, beautifully printed, fun, and even has a page or two for you to add to it and become one of the graffiti masters.

And it doesn’t hurt that the authors are amazing people! Def a great purchase!

  6. Hennessey Says:

The overall cover look of the book already deserves 5 stars. Great hardcover looks exactly like a blackbook. The graffiti inside is amazing pieces from all the legends, and blank pages or you to be creative on.

  7. Betancourtt Says:

Having always had a fascination for the art of graffiti, I wanted to find a book containing colored pictures. I ordered this book after reading the great reviews, and I was totally delighted when it arrived. This book is better than pictures of graffiti. It is like the artists actually created their designs on the pages of the book! The cover is terrific, too, and there are blank pages scattered throughout…just in case you are inspired to create some art yourself.

  8. Esquivel Says:

“Piecebook: The Secret Drawings Of Graffiti Writers” has successfully put together a who’s who of writers, and gives you an inside look at the world of graffiti through the eyes of NYC street artists. This imitation, old school blackbook is a compilation of incredibly authentic and realistic drawings from the 1970’s to 2000, presented as they were originally created: you’d swear you could feel the groves in the paper left by the pens and pencils used to draw them. There are even blank pages in case you get inspired to include your own artwork with that of the great masters. We highly recommend this book to any artist or enthusiast who likes “masterpieces”. This book is an outstanding piece of history, and if you are a student of this art form, you will learn invaluable lessons from this book and it’s follow-up “Piecebook Reloaded”. The follow-up book is organized much better, but that’s a small issue, compared to the contents.

  9. Nicolson Says:

This book does a great job of telling the story of freight train graffiti. The authors did a great job of finding the artist that were really putting in work with amazing style. This is apparent by looking at the covers with Pre-One and Sento! These two alone say enough about this book. The stories inside are a great read and I thought the pictures were clear and detailed well. If you ever tried to paint a freight train you will really appreciate the style in this book and how the artists featured developed such technique and skill. They make it look easy! The stories and the writers perspective in this book is amazing. I especially like the chase stories! haha. I highly recommend anyone a fan of graffiti, art or trains to purchase this book. This is the 101 when it comes to graff of freights!

  10. Bernklau Says:

Unlike some of the people who have written bad reviews of this book, I actually BOUGHT IT and READ IT. I found the book to be chock full of stories and anecdotes. Some of the pictures are too small for my tastes, but this book doesn’t look like it was intended to be a picture book. It looks like a good resource for people who want to read firsthand accounts of what it is like to be a train writer, learn a little bit about the history and origins of the freight tag, and have plenty of pictures to go with the text.

If you want to see huge photos of incredibly intricate work that took several artists days to perfect, this is not your book. If you want to learn about the scene, read stories about the hazards and risks involved, and see a broad range of tags, from small hollow ones to huge full color end-to-ends, to hobo drawings, try this book.

How many trains would a train writer write when a train writer writes on trains? It’s in the book. Some books have pictures, but they don’t answer this one. This book belongs in my collection, and that’s where it will stay.

  11. Ibrahim Says:

Many people have said it earlier and better, so this is for the fence-sitters: If you like graff, get this book.

  12. Beard Says:

This has to be one of the best books on writing to date. It sits right next to Subway Art. The photos are great, some historic, and they seem endless. There is also great text on the history of trains, the movement of writing on them in the US, and how it evolved over time. Really well done and thorough. Additionally, there are countless numbers of quotes with stories and perspectives from the artists themselves, which really sets the book in a class above many other books on the subject of writing. If you write, you want this book. No questions. If you are a train buff, you’ll enjoy the history and inside scoop on how all this “refurbishing” takes place. The authors have made a classic with this one.
