graffiti-creators Essential roadmap on Graffiti Creator Home

I have recently become impressed with Doug Pray’s documentary work. Infamy is about the graffiti sub-culture. He follows 5 or 6 of the more prolific taggers to see how they work and listen to their thoughts. It really gave me insight into why these guys (and girls) have a passion for their particular brand of art. He also includes one “buffer”, which is a guy who eliminates graffiti in his neighborhood. The buffer was pretty funny because his last scene essentially shows that he is really a form of tagger!

There is some good footage of the artists actually creating their work with markers or spray paint. It really drew a striking parallel with calligraphy. Their motions are often so practiced and smooth that the movements seem to be as much art as the final result. Of course there are also shots of many beautiful works in the film. If you have any interest in the graffiti scene, check out this film.

In this excellent book, graffiti artist Scape Martinez offers step-by-step instructions on how to create graffiti art. The book covers all aspects of graffiti, such as tagging, letter development, color selection and spray painting techniques. Full-color demonstrations and easy-to-follow text accompany a timeline tracing graffiti’s history throughout the book. We love this book and use it a lot for reference.

  2. Novotny Says:

One of the few book resources for learning anything about the actual techniques and practices of graffiti artists. Combined with a good introduction on the styles and history of graff artwork.

  3. Fenske Says:

As graffiti is now a recognized art form and in the right places it can look awesome, I decided to support my son in his endeavor to invent his own artistic expression. He is so taken with graffiti that he wanted to know more about it. The book makes a point of the fact that it is illegal to graffiti in public places. I also bought him a sketch book (black book) so he wouldn’t be tempted to use our walls!

  4. Adli Says:

Had to pick out a book on graffiti which I know nothing about but I picked a winner. Book is well written with great pictures and very informative.

  5. Kerkhoff Says:

When I saw this book I was kind of hesitant since I have been on a long and somewhat unsuccessful look for a New York graffiti book, but I decided to hope for the best and order this book. Once I received the book I was not disappointed. This book is pretty complete, covering the subways from the early 70s all the way through modern graffiti. What I liked best about this book is that it didn’t simply focus on bombing or piecing, it showed both styles of graffiti and explained the origins of each. If you want a good graff book then buy this book, you’ll be happy that you did.

Someone spray-painted profanity on the side of my boat last night and I didn’t see it until the afternoon when I came home from work. I sprayed on the graffiti remover, waited a minute or two and wiped off the paint. It took a couple passes to get some of the pooled up spot and runs, but it was all gone in less than 30 minutes without breaking out an abrasive. Fumes were not nearly as bad as other stuff I’ve used, and I didn’t see any effects on the boat finish. It did exactly what I needed.

  7. Nien Says:

Had some nasty person tag the back end of my car, including my entire license plate. This stuff removed everything, including the paint stuck to my license plate trim and DMV stickers. First rate product – seriously exceeded expectations.

  8. Norman Says:

Got 15 ft graffiti on my motorhome.
Sprayed KK over and waited 3 min, then brushed with nylon brush and washed away with water hose jet stream.
All graffiti is gone, but original paint untouched.
