graffiti-creators Beneficial guidepost for How To Draw Graffiti Alphabet

In this art technique book, John Lee introduces his own self-taught drawing style influenced by today’s teenage urbanite. Starting with simple shapes and stick figures and working his way up to figure drawing, coloring and details, Lee also walks readers through the creation of every teen stereotype you can name, and shows off some graffiti-style designs. Though I don’t encourage spray painting public property, it would’ve been sweet if Lee were to tell readers more of how this particular style is made.

This book is unrated but contains no offensive content.

Barbados Gangs. Watch urself!?
I dunno how many of you got this email but i found it very interesting and decided to share.PTA MEETING – MARCH 24th 2010Allan Goodridge – PC 720 – Royal Barbados Police Force Most gangs are well organised and operate by a particular code The “wannabees” are the most dangerous as they are trying to prove themselves worthy of joining gang. These are the ones who would shoot or kill someone at random to prove how violent they are. Most of the problems with gang members originate in the home i.e. lack of parental controls, rejection, lack of cooperation.Main Gangs Operating In Barbados (Other Minor Ones)Gang Origin Gang ColourBloods Los Angeles RedCrips Los Angeles BlueBlack Mobs ChicagoOutLawz New YorkPanty Pudding Girls Local313 Harlem Empire HarlemMS 13 South AmericaJamaican Posse New York, Miami, Jamaica Some gangs practising voodoo/ demon possession School girls becoming possessed (Minor gang known as “Gothics”) Teacher at Springer School reprimanding 13 year old girl (whose voice was normally quite low keyed) and suddenly girl’s eyes staring and speaking in a deep male voice Girls from My Lords Hill (Minor gang known as “Celebrities”) believe that they will become vampires. Beads are worn and the longer the beads the higher the rank.Initiation Burn 3 marks in the form of a triangle on back of right or left shoulder – this is known as the Dog Paw Males are “beat-in”- surrounded by a group of gang members and each person delivers a vicious beating Girls are “sex –in “– unprotected sex with at least 5/6 gang members. Some school girls reported missing on a Friday and then showing up on a Monday /Tuesday would have been initiated by “sex-in” during the weekend. Potential new members required to kill someone at random, kill a rival gang member ( Bloods and Crips hate each other), commit a crime. Going to jail for such acts ensures certain bragging rights , respect in and out of Dodds and rise in influence in gang. Each gang has a type of alphabet code which is disclosed to members. I’m not sure how this book could even be labeled graffiti anything. There is nothing graffiti about it. This is a book on how to draw cartoon characters, period. I have been a graffiti artist for over 15 years and the characters in this book aren’t even remotely close to being graffiti characters. I bought this book for a nephew of mine who has always been into my graffiti work and I thought he would enjoy it. But, it’s a HUGE disappointment.

  2. Negrete Says:

I have no idea why this book is called graffiti style. It has almost NOTHING to do with graffiti. It is just a how-to-draw cartoons book LABELED graffiti style (not graffiti characters, just regular cartoons!). Seriously a pitiful book. Do not buy this book if you are looking for a graffiti book. This is a complete waste of time. As soon as I received the book and took a quick glance at it, I laughed and resealed it back into the box immediately for return. If you bought this book, return it!! Just look how many new&used versions of this book there are. That should give you a good idea of how many people DON’T like this book.

It’s a how-to draw cartoon characters book with some attempt at a “street smartness” that could well appeal to children. Badly mistitled and misrepresented book.

  4. Egge Says:

Great book, an interactive, inspiring, fun and funky way to learn how to draw characters in this form. Easy to read & understand, gives detailed explanations on how to draw different parts and has clear diagrams to accompany. Great for all ages, not only the younger generations… Highly recommend.
